Oral Cancer Conference 2019
Currently, oral and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the 6th most common cancer world-wide, and is associated with poor survival rates. This interactive, case-based symposium is designed to update medical and dental colleagues on the latest advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and postsurgical management of oral cavity and head and neck cancer.
The poor survival rate of OSCC is primarily attributed to delays in diagnosis, and therefore, advanced staging at onset. It is imperative to diagnosis lesions early, although early detection strategies, while emerging, are not yet part of the standard of care. Community clinicians, including dentists and otolaryngologists, are on the front line for the early detection and surveillance of this disease, as well as in managing the chosen medical treatment and its impact for their patients.
