New Trial for Rare Brain Lymphoma Open at Roswell Park
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of four locations in the United States and Europe in which patients with relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma in their central nervous system can access a new clinical trial, led by Francisco Hernandez-Ilizaliturri, MD, Director of Lymphoma Research and head of the Lymphoma Translational Research Lab.
Utilizing CA-4948, an IRAK-4 inhibitor that blocks an enzyme that’s utilized by the cancer for signaling processes leading to the proliferation of cancer cells, the study aims to determine the efficacy of the agent in controlling the cancer’s progress in patients who have failed standard treatment.
Currently these rare brain lymphomas are treated with chemotherapy, immunotherapy and/or bone marrow transplants, but this trial is looking to determine whether a more robust response could be achieved using CA-4948, as up to 60% of patients experience a relapse after a few years.
